A Sister’s Eulogy for Steve Jobs

A beautiful piece of eulogising by Steve Jobs' sister Mona Simpson, made all the more poignant by the strikingly intimate details of the life and death of such a private man. I don't make a habit of browsing obituaries, but I think this one stands out. Not just because its in many ways beautiful, and a testament to the life of a great man. But also because it gives us, the "rest of us", a small glimpse into the real life of a man whom we supposed we knew everything about, but in reality knew almost nothing of, past the professional achievements and workplace anecdotes. A worthwhile read and a brief story of a life accurately summed up by the final sentence of his eulogy.

Commute, Oct 26 2011. Missing: Misty, damp fields, rust-coloured leaves, ghosty-breath. Appreciating: Bright sun, wearing shorts, tacos.
