Hipster camping gear? I don't care, these look like well-made, vintage-inspired pieces of outdoor wear. Perfect for strolls, walks, moderate hikes and camping with beer. Perhaps not suitable for high-alpine multi-day treks. But that's fine with me.
Finally finding out where this fabled Texas MTBing is going on.
Nice adaptive Tumblr theme from @mikedidthis, using @jonikorpi's Frameless adaptive grid system. Nice work.
A perfect reason to get back to posting bookmarks, even if Delicious seems to be the "wrong" place to do it nowadays. This apple dessert looks like a perfect antidote to "healthy dessert" induced "crumble overload".
My annual Smitten Kitchen rash dug up these, which are definitely getting made. No question about it.
Not only do these crisp/chip-coated baked tater tots look delicious, I've been informed by @markedmondson that they are indeed as easy to prepare and tasty as is claimed.
Handy list of tech/web companies in New York with a jump-page to their jobs/careers page.
Nice-looking fullscreen and responsive image gallery plugin.
Delicious mix of seasonal root vegetables with smoky, oily fish and the creamy, nostril-singeing heat of horseradish. One for crisp, autumnal weekend lunches.
A beautiful piece of eulogising by Steve Jobs' sister Mona Simpson, made all the more poignant by the strikingly intimate details of the life and death of such a private man.
I don't make a habit of browsing obituaries, but I think this one stands out. Not just because its in many ways beautiful, and a testament to the life of a great man. But also because it gives us, the "rest of us", a small glimpse into the real life of a man whom we supposed we knew everything about, but in reality knew almost nothing of, past the professional achievements and workplace anecdotes.
A worthwhile read and a brief story of a life accurately summed up by the final sentence of his eulogy.
Now this could come in handy. Illustrator template to get you up and running with designing a wrap for a food trailer/truck/cart (delete as appropriate depending on your city's mobile food vendor nomenclature).
Nice HTML/CSS piece by @kroc_camen detailing how to free ourselves of the "container div" straitjacket.
Great piece by @Cennyd on how to write legibly, succinctly and with clear purpose. As a keen amateur waffler since school days (the timing of which I don't see as coincidental), there are more than a couple of things to take away here. Via @Clagnut.
Nice hand-drawn font by Kyle Steed. Via @MaxVoltar.
If you're a front-end coder jumping on the responsive-bus, now you have a nice responsive plugin to use for the obligatory cycling hero area. Via @StrangeNative.
Pretty exhaustive introduction to pizza in New York City. My preference is for Neapolitan, wood-fired pizza - always. But am sure excited to sample some NYC-style slices and coal-fired pies this month. Via @kottke.
More from @MethodAndCraft. This time, an interview with local design and branding hero and co-owner of my favourite hot-dog joint, @xianhelms.
A masterclass in adding grungey texture to your designs in Photoshop. Great little video tutorial for @MethodAndCraft by the texture-master himself, @TrentWalton.
Saving for later reference as discovered on a tangent while thumbing through Responsive Web Design resources. Looks a little painful, but as noted at the bottom, not as painful as it could have been.
